VI. What is our experience with this surgery?

Dr. Neil Floch graduated from Tufts University in 1988 with Magna cum Laude honors. He performed research at Boston University School of Medicine Department of Vascular Surgery and received his degree from the Boston University School of Medicine. He completed five years of surgical residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York where he was chief resident in surgery. During this time he completed hundreds of laparoscopic surgeries including the cholecystectomy (gallbladder) and appendectomy (appendix).

He trained at the Mayo Clinic for a year with the pioneer of laparoscopic heartburn surgery, Dr. Ronald A. Hinder. He received his fellowship in laparoscopic surgery at the Mayo Clinic where he gained experience in nearly 70 Laparoscopic Nissen fundoplications and many other laparoscopic surgeries for the bowel, spleen, adrenal glands, stomach, appendix, gallbladder and hernias. He obtained the title of Associate attending at St. Luke's Hospital and maintained surgical privileges at the Mayo Clinic.

He is certified by the American Board of Surgeons. He is licensed in New York, Connecticut and Florida. Dr. Floch has become an attending physician at Norwalk Hospital. He is the only Fellowship trained laparoscopic surgeon in Fairfield County. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is currently a member of The Society of American Gastroestroendoscopic Surgeons. He is an expert lecturer in the laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication, laparoscopic paraesophageal hernia repair and reoperative Nissen fundoplication.


Dr. Craig Floch graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in psychology. He received his medical degree from The University of Health Sciences, The Chicago Medical School. He completed his five-year surgical training at Mount Sinai Hospital in Cleveland and Case Western Reserve University Hospitals under the training of Dr. Jeffery Ponsky and Dr. Jerry Schuck. He acted as chief resident at Case Western Reserve University Hospitals. He has He has obtained postdoctoral training in Laparoscopic Skills and Anti-Reflux Procedures, at Yale University in 1997. He is currently an attending of Surgery and trauma surgeon at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut. He has been an instructor in the Yale University/Norwalk Hospital Surgical P.A. teaching program. He is a diplomat of the National Board of medical examiners and an American Board of Surgery eligible surgeon. He is licensed in the state of Connecticut.


Dr. Craig Floch received the Malcom S. Beinfield award for Teaching excellence in the Yale/Norwalk Surgical P.A. teaching program for the years 1996 and 1998. He is a member of the American Medical association, Fairfield County Medical Society and the Connecticut State Medical Society. He inherited the practice of Jack Wilson M.D. and has many years of experience in the private practice of surgery.
