Dr. Neil Floch Bariatric Surgeon

Dr. Neil R. Floch is one of the country’s most eminent laparoscopic antireflux surgeons. He graduated from Tufts University in 1988 with Magna cum Laude honors. He performed research and graduated from the Boston University School of Medicine and received his degree from them. Dr Floch then completed five years of surgical residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, where he was the Chief Resident in Surgery.

Dr. Floch performed a one-year fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic with the pioneer of laparoscopic heartburn surgery, Dr. Ronald A. Hinder. He received advanced laparoscopic training in the performance of the Laparoscopic Nissen Fundoplication, Laparoscopic Toupet Fundoplication, Laparaoscopic Paraesophageal Hernia Repair and Laparoscopic Heller Myotomy. He was specifically trained to deal with complex postoperative situations that involved treating patients who had recurrent surgical problems. These skills have led Dr. Floch to become an expert in revisional antireflux and hiatal hernias surgery.

Dr. Floch is committed to treating new patients as well as those in need of revisional antireflux surgery. Dr Floch is the first fellowship trained advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon in Fairfield County. In addition to performing surgery he has used his skills to train many surgeons in the techniques of advanced laparoscopic surgery.

Dr. Floch’s academic accomplishments include twenty-one original journal publications and seven book chapters. He is currently on the Board of the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology. As a coauthor and editor, he recently wrote over 100 pages on the anatomy of the esophagus, reflux disease and its complications, achalasia, hiatal and paraesophageal hernias as well as the surgical treatment of these diseases. This information can be found in the second edition of Netters Gastroeneterology which is published in over six languages including Spanish, Portugese, Polish, Chinese and Italian. Currently, Dr. Neil Floch is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is a member of The Society of American Gastroendoscopic Surgeons and The Society of Laparendoscopic Surgeons. He is certified by the American Board of Surgeons and licensed in New York, Connecticut and Florida. Dr. Floch is a Center of Excellence Certified Bariatric Surgeon by the Surgical Review Corporation.

Dr. Floch is the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk CT, and an attending surgeon at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport CT and Griffin Hospital in Derby CT.. He personally designed and instituted the first two advanced minimally invasive operating rooms in Fairfield County. He is an expert lecturer on laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication, laparoscopic paraesophageal hernia repair, reoperative Nissen fundoplication and laparoscopic bariatric surgery.

Doctor Floch has now performed over 500 laparoscopic antireflux procedures. In addition he commonly performs hiatal hernia repairs in conjunction with bariatric surgeries. He is an expert in the laparoscopic Nissen, laparoscopic Toupet, laparoscopic Heller Myotomy, and the laparoscopic paraesophageal hernia repair. He is currently performing STRETTA and TORAX LINX as well. Dr. Floch has written over 21 articles on the topic of antireflux surgery and his paper on revisional antireflux surgery in Archives of Surgery in 1998 is commonly referred to as a reference to this day. He lectures on the topic of reflux surgery and paraesophageal hernia repairs to surgeons and physicians.

Dr. Floch is featured in the Consumer’s Guide to Top Doctors as one of the 2009 Best Physicians as chosen by their peers. He is the surgeon of choice among many doctors and nurses who seek to have surgery for themselves. Dr. Floch has appeared on several television programs including Channel 12 Cableviison, Health Talk and Better Connecticut. Dr. Craig Floch Bariatric Surgeon

Craig L. Floch, M.D., FACS

Dr. Craig L. Floch is the founder and senior partner of Fairfield County Bariatrics & Surgical Specialists, P.C., which has become one of the most prominent, dedicated, personal and highly respected practices serving all of Connecticut, New England and New York. He received his medical degree from The Chicago Medical School, University of Health Sciences. Dr Floch completed his five-year surgical training at Mount Sinai Hospital in Cleveland and Case Western Reserve University Hospital under the training of Dr. Jeffery Ponsky. In this program Dr. Floch was trained in the skills of advanced laparoscopic procedures. He was Chief Resident of Surgery at Case Western Reserve University Hospital and obtained postdoctoral training in Laparoscopic Skills and Anti-Reflux Procedures at Yale University.

Dr. Floch has been an instructor in the Yale University/Norwalk Hospital Surgical P.A. teaching program and for several years received the Malcolm S. Beinfield Award for Teaching Excellence in the Yale/Norwalk Surgical P.A. teaching program on three occasions. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopics Surgeons, American Medical Association, the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the Connecticut State Medical Society, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the American Society of Breast Surgeons and is on the Board of trustees of the Fairfield County Medical Association.

Abe Fridman, D.O., FACS

Dr. Abe Fridman Bariatric SurgeonDr. Abe Fridman is the newest member of Fairfield County Bariatrics & Surgical Specialists, P.C. He joined our practice September 1, 2012. Dr. Fridman specializes in general and bariatric surgery. He also has been trained in Laparoscopic Foregut and surgery for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease.

Dr. Fridman comes to Fairfield County Bariatrics & Surgical Specialists, P.C. from New York City. He began his education at Cornell University and from there completed his medical studies at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship at Northshore/LIJ in New Hyde Park, New York. Dr. Fridman became a resident at SUNY Downstate in the General Surgery Program and finished the residency at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. During his tenure at Lutheran Medical he was awarded the Sampath Kumar Award, given to the top surgical resident in the program.

Dr. Fridman completed his fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Florida in June of 2012. He had the privilege of studying under Dr. Raul Rosenthal, a renowned Bariatric and General Surgeon, who is the Editor of the Bariatric Times, a nationally published medical journal. Dr. Fridman contributed to the studies and submitted articles for publication in the Bariatric Times. He also was selected to give an abstract presentation at the annual American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons this year held in San Diego, California.

During his fellowship, Dr. Fridman worked in the general and bariatric surgical program and has participated in the care and surgical treatment of patients requiring procedures including laparoscopic fundoplications for the treatment of severe gastroesophageal reflux disease, laparoscopic cholecystectomies, appendectomies, hiatal hernia repairs, as well as laparoscopic gastric banding, gastric sleeve, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and revisional bariatric procedures.

Dr. Fridman is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons and SAGES. He has participated in video presentations for both the ACS and SAGES. He has had articles published in the Bariatric Times and also contributed a book chapter to a textbook of bariatric surgery to be published by the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons.

Dr. Fridman is the Director of Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery at Griffin Hospital in Derby CT. He is an attending physician at both Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk CT and St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport CT. He is fluent in Russian, which is beneficial for our community and allows him to care for a greater population of patients.


Dr. Peter A. Ingraldi Bariatric Surgeon

Peter A. Ingraldi, M.D., FACS

Director of Surgical Critical Care

Dr. Peter A. Ingraldi is a partner of Fairfield County Bariatrics & Surgical Specialists, P.C. He joined our practice in 2007. Dr. Ingraldi specializes in general surgery and surgical critical care and is Board Certified in both fields. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and also holds memberships in the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition

Dr. Ingraldi came to Fairfield County Bariatrics & Surgical Specialists, P.C. from New York City. He was trained at the School of Biomedical Education at the City College of New York and received his Bachelor of Science and the honorary award of cum laude and graduated in 1986. He continued his studies at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and completed his Doctorate in Medicine in 1988. He completed his residency and fellowship training at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in New York in 1994.

He began his career at Mount Sinai Services at Queens Hospital Center as an Assistant Attending in Surgery in 1994. He was held in high regard by his colleagues being voted the President of the Medical Staff Association at Queens Hospital Center from 1997-2000. In 1999, Dr. Ingraldi became an Associate Attending of Surgery, and then in 2000 he was appointed the Associate Director for the Department of Surgery at Queens Center Hospital until December of 2006. During this time Dr. Ingraldi also held the position of Chairman of the Nutrition Support Team and was Co-Director of the Intensive Care Unit. He held the appointment Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

In January of 2007 Dr. Ingraldi moved into private practice with FCBSS. He holds privileges at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk CT, St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport CT, and Griffin Hospital in Derby CT. . He is fluent in medical Spanish and is bilingual, which is beneficial for our community allowing us to offer care to a greater population of patients.

At Norwalk Hospital, he has held the position of Chief of Surgical Intensive Care Unit for the past four years. He is focused in the practice of Acute Care Surgery and the management of complex critically ill and traumatically injured patients. He has an outstanding clinical record for the successful treatment of patients with large complex abdominal wall hernias.

Dr. Ingraldi is an integral part of Fairfield County Bariatrics & Surgical Specialists. He primarily focuses on general surgery cases, but supports Dr. Neil Floch and Dr. Craig Floch with their bariatric patients. Dr. Ingraldi assists with many bariatric and reflux cases and is able to participate in the acute care treatment of bariatric surgical patients. He is the”man behind the scenes who keeps our patients safe and sound,” explained Dr. Neil Floch. “Any great program is like an engine and Dr. Peter Ingraldi is that part that keeps our motor running smoothly.”
